Indie legends The Bluetones will make more than a 'Slight Return' to Grimsby when they perform at Docks Academy. The band, known for 90s indie hits such as ‘Bluetonic’ and 'Slight Return', head back to the town for an intimate gig on Wednesday evening. The Bluetones, who supported Oasis in the late '90s and had a number of significant festival slots including appearances at Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds, return to Docks following a sold-out gig last year.

The band first came to prominence in 1995, when their debut release ‘Are You Blue Or Are You Blind’ broke into the Top 40. The single proved to be the launching pad for a run that saw 14 hit singles and six albums follow on from it. Their 1996 album ‘Expecting To Fly’ reached number 1 in the UK album charts, with the single ‘Slight Return’ reaching Number Two.
From there on, the band, made up of brothers Mark and Scott Morriss alongside Adam Devlin and Eds Chesters, enjoyed considerable UK and Ireland successes, extending out across into Europe and Japan, before taking a hiatus in 2011 that lasted for four years. Since then they have re-established themselves as one of the UK’s most consistently entertaining live acts, regularly touring their extensive catalogue to their army of devoted fans. A spokesperson for Docks Beers said: “The Bluetones have played on some of the biggest stages in the UK - from arenas to festivals - and it’s a real privilege to again host them here in Grimsby.
We’re looking forward to another memorable night of singalong hits.” The gig will take place on Wednesday, (March 25) with doors at 7pm. Tickets, priced £29.50 plus booking fees, are available from www.docksacademy.com Did you know you can make Hull Live a preferred source of Hull news in Google, which will mean you get more of our breaking news, exclusives, and must-read stories straight away?
