Former Janata Dal (United) leader KC Tyagi on Sunday joined the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), saying both parties share the same ideological roots and are guided by the ideals of former prime minister Chaudhary Charan Singh and socialist leader Ram Manohar Lohia.

Tyagi, a veteran socialist leader, joined the RLD in the presence of party chief and Union minister Jayant Chaudhary at an event in New Delhi. He was accompanied by several supporters. Welcoming him, Chaudhary said Tyagi’s entry would bring “new energy and strength” to the party.,Explaining his decision, Tyagi said there was “no difference” between the JD(U) and the RLD, as both draw inspiration from leaders such as Charan Singh, Lohia and Karpoori Thakur.
He said his focus would be on strengthening the party and carrying forward the vision of Charan Singh, particularly on issues concerning farmers., ,Tyagi made it clear that he was not joining the RLD to seek electoral office. Asked if he would contest UP assembly polls in 2027, “No. I have already been an MLA and an MP.””,He said he would work to promote policies that ensure “prosperous farmers and a strong India,” aligning with the party’s core agenda. Tyagi also expressed confidence about the RLD’s role in Uttar Pradesh politics, saying efforts would be made to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 assembly elections., ,“We want to make the Lok Dal strong so that an NDA government is formed once again in Uttar Pradesh,” he said, underlining the party’s position within the National Democratic Alliance.,Tyagi had announced his exit from the JD(U) earlier this week without specifying reasons.
He had been associated with the party since its formation in 2003 and held several key roles, including chief general secretary, chief spokesperson and political adviser under Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.,For the Latest news, India News and breaking stories from around the world, visit Times Now for live coverage and in-depth reporting.
