A woman who jetted off on a girls' holiday for a week has revealed her rage after discovering what her pet camera captured whilst she was away from home. The 29-year old turned to Reddit to share how she's been dating her 35-year old boyfriend for roughly two years - but is now questioning their relationship, as many couples occasionally do . "

'I was fuming at boyfriend after checking pet cam while on a girl's trip'

We get along great and are basically the same person, and we share a pet that tends to get into things and destroy our furniture whilst we're at work, so to keep an eye on her we installed a pet cam," the woman disclosed in a post that has since been removed. She had told the Relationships community that whilst she was abroad, she would "check in on the house" through the device – which sparked her suspicions about her boyfriend's activities.

"I noticed that a couple of times throughout the week my boyfriend would say he was hanging out at home but was not there based on cam footage," the woman revealed.

“I was immediately suspicious but decided to give him the benefit of the doubt." Confessing that her boyfriend's contact during the latter stages of her break had become "virtually non-existent", the woman explained she grew increasingly worried when his messages appeared "short and disinterested". ”

On my last night of my trip, my boyfriend said he was going to bed early," she continued. "

Again, not like him. An hour later, I got a notification from the pet cam about noise and I opened the camera and found all the lights on in our home, the dog barking, and no boyfriend to be seen." Assuming he'd simply stepped out to take the bins out, she decided to go back to sleep, only to be jolted awake by another notification 10 minutes later - with her boyfriend still nowhere in sight on the camera.

After numerous unanswered calls to him, she confessed to feeling "furious" - but the situation was about to escalate even further.

“I waited another 10 minutes to check the camera, and found it had been turned off remotely," she fumed.

"I turned it back on to find still no boyfriend, which means he saw my phone calls, chose to ignore me, and disabled the camera." But by examining the timestamps on the footage, she managed to deduce that he'd finally returned home after three hours.

However, she concluded her post having seemingly had second thoughts. "

Since I've been home, he's seemingly back to normal and we haven't discussed it at all," she confessed. "

The more time that passes without acknowledgement, the angrier I get. I'm now debating dumping him over his behaviour that week. Would I be overreacting in doing so?" Her plea for advice sparked a flurry of responses from Reddit users, with the majority offering the same suggestion. "

Sit him down and have a conversation," one of them advised. "

Don't let him try to turn it into you not trusting him. He clearly gave you a reason not too." A second person declared: ”

No, dumping him is not an overreaction. Whatever he was doing, it was bad enough to lie about it to you." And a third concurred: "

Innocent people don't lie or hide things from their partners. It's bad enough he doesn't want you to know. Breaking up when you can no longer trust someone is not an overreaction." Others rallied behind the boyfriend, though, with one Reddit contributor hitting back: "

If I were your boyfriend I'd be furious that you'd been spying and checking up on me like that. Then the harassment texts? I wouldn't reply on principle." For the latest breaking news and stories from across the globe from the Daily Star,
