Russia increases exports of agricultural products to China through Guangdong province 4% in 2025 to $400 mln - Agroexport MOSCOW. March 25 (Interfax) - Russia increased supplies of agricultural products to China through Guangdong province 4% in 2025 to $400 million, where a zone of accelerated economic and innovation development (the Greater Bay Area, or GBA) is being created, the Agroexport federal center said in a press release dedicated to the business mission of Russian exporting companies planned for late June in Guangzhou (part of Guangdong province). Under the GBA project, it is planned that nine cities of the province will be united with two special administrative regions (Hong Kong and Macau) and the cluster will be transformed into a global business center by 2035.
According to Agroexport, last year the majority of revenue, $133 million, came from exports of chicken paws to Guangdong. Pork by-products were supplied for $47 million, frozen pork for $36 million, chicken wings for $30 million and beef for $25 million. Other products were also exported, in particular vegetable oil, turkey meat and pollock.
In physical terms, supplies amounted to 222,000 tonnes. The choice of location for the business mission is also due to the fact that the GBA is among the most dynamically developing territories in China. It ensures the import and distribution of a significant share of China's agricultural and food products.
Residents of the region, especially in urban centers, provide high demand for quality and premium food products. This creates broad opportunities for the supply of various goods, including wine, nuts, dairy products, meat and other fresh products, Agroexport said.
In addition, special measures have been introduced in the region to facilitate trade between mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau to accelerate the formation of integrated supply chains and food safety standards, which further increases the region's attractiveness as a center for trade in agricultural products. During the business mission, 40 leading Russian companies will present their products at their own stands. A business program is also planned, which will include round tables dedicated to the development of agricultural product exports and strategies for working in the HoReCa and retail segments, as well as on Chinese marketplaces.
As reported, citing data from China's General Administration of Customs, agricultural products and food worth around $8 billion were imported from Russia into China in 2025. In 2024, exports of Russian agricultural products to the Chinese market amounted to $6.4 billion.
