HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The Houston Police Department said an officer and his canine colleague are recovering from a crash that flipped his police cruiser in downtown overnight Friday.
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — The Houston Police Department said an officer and his canine colleague are recovering from a crash that flipped his police cruiser in downtown overnight Friday.
According to HPD, the officer and K9 were on their way to assist with a chase when the police cruiser collided with another vehicle on Smith Street at Pease Street at around midnight. Authorities said the officer's vehicle flipped and rolled for almost a whole block.

Police said the officer had his lights and sirens activated when the crash happened, but they haven't said who may have been at fault.
Officers also haven't said if the person in the other vehicle was hurt.
Both the HPD officer and the police dog were taken to the hospital for their injuries, according to officials.
