They Will Kill You Star Zazie Beetz Says Kirill Sokolov's Past Work 'Really Inspired' Her - EXCLUSIVE

Zazie Beetz is currently gearing up for the release of her upcoming movie, They Will Kill You. Directed by Kirill Sokolov, the horror comedy film is all set to release in theatres on March 27. Ahead of that, Zoom exclusively interacted with Zazie.

In conversation with us, the actress shared a few words of appreciation for her director, Kirill. She admitted that she was inspired by the director's previous work. She even expressed that she was glad that Kirill thought of casting a black woman in a horror film.,Zazie Beetz on Kirill Sokolov's past work,,Speaking exclusively to us, Zazie said, "I was inspired by Kirill’s previous work.

I could see his style transplanted onto this film and that really excited me. I was glad that I guess he cast a black woman. It worked in the space of bringing black women into horror, which is, I think, a great thing to do.

But I wouldn't say that was necessarily an intentional move on my part."", ,Kirill, who was also a part of this conversation, revealed an anime film inspired his movie, They Will Kill You. The director revealed, "

There is an anime that became the first inspirational point it's called Afra Samurai. It's unbelievable and it became a big reference for main character for Asia. And Zasi and I we discussed the tone of the character.

“I was really happy to jump into breaking that cycle of like, 'black girl, black guy dies first' in a movie. But I will say I'm always drawn first to a character or a script.
