Historic Brooklyn mosque smeared with unknown substance in possible hate crime

The man approached the Islamic Mission of America Daoud Mosque in Brooklyn Heights around 4:30 a.m. on March 9, and first threw pieces of a religious book on its front step, returning later to smear something on its door, cops said.
