Amid Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy talking about a reunion with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the future may be more in question than at first glance as NFL reporter Andrew Siciliano sees it.
“I am not entirely convinced that the Steelers want Rodgers back,” Siciliano told the Heed the Call NFL Podcast on Wednesday.

“When he went on (Pat) McAfee a couple of weeks ago, Rodgers did so a day after the Kyler Murray news broke.” Previously a potential free agent target for the Steelers, Murray signed with the Minnesota Vikings instead. Pittsburgh hasn’t made another quarterback move since then, but Siciliano noted something Rodgers himself said on McAfee’s show.

Are we entirely sure the Steelers want Aaron Rodgers?” It’s also worth noting that new Steelers wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. said he hasn’t talked with Rodgers yet.
The Steelers acquired Pittman in free agency after he spent the first six seasons of his career with the Indianapolis Colts.
“I don't know nothing. I haven't talked to Aaron," Pittman said during Monday’s Up and Adams podcast.
"I'm trying to give him space because Aaron's a guy, he likes his space, he likes to get refreshed.” McCarthy, speaking at the celebration of life for former Green Bay Packers president Bob Harlan, called the potential reunion “a great story” but couldn’t say if it’s happening. Rodgers and McCarthy worked together with the Packers between 2006 and 2018.
“I don't know. I would love to tell everybody (there is) breaking news," McCarthy said. ”
It's really cool to see Aaron at 42 and to see a young man at 22 and all that he's been able to accomplish and where he's at in his personal life and trying to make this decision. "
He's in a really good place, but ... I think he's in a really good place." Rodgers had a productive season in 2025 with 3,322 yards passing for 24 touchdowns versus seven interceptions, and he led the Steelers to the postseason.
