This decision comes after students have been concerned about misinformation and confusion.,On April 1, a notification was circulated on social media bearing the Council’s name and logo claiming that the proposed semester system for the 2027 higher secondary examination would be withdrawn, and that students and schools would continue under the existing annual examination pattern.,WBCHSE clarified that the notice on social media was fake and was not issued by the council, adding that no such decision had been taken. Students, guardians and schools were advised not to be misled by such misinformation. ,Treating the matter with seriousness, the council has filed an FIR against those responsible for circulating the fake notification.

“The circulation of such fabricated documents is a matter of concern as it creates unnecessary confusion among students. We have filed an FIR, and appropriate legal action will follow,” an official said.,However, the council stated that the semester system for higher secondary examination will continue as planned. The council is also working on academic changes with the aim of enhancing student engagement and aligning education with the emerging career fields.
New project-based subjects will be introduced for the upcoming academic session. Authorities also urged stakeholders to rely only on official updates published through authorised channels, such as websites, for any sort of update regarding the higher secondary examination system.,Chiranjib Bhattacharyya, the council president, further added that several subjects introduced over the past three years will now be brought under Council Assisted Courses (CAC). Also, WBCHSE will conduct online classes for students beyond school hours regularly. ,The subjects CAC include:,
- Artificial Intelligence & Data Science (AIDS),
- Applied Artificial Intelligence (APAI),
