THE CHRISTIAN Service University (CSU) has officially launched the second edition of its Chapman Library Month celebration under the theme, “Stewarding Knowledge in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.”

The month-long programme seeks to promote the effective use of library resources while enhancing students’ research and academic skills.

CSU Marks Library Month With AI-Focused Activities

The celebration kicked off with a “Library Goldmine” exercise, which exposed students to a wide array of academic resources and services available within the university’s library system.

As part of the activities, students recently embarked on an educational tour to the Prempeh II Library and the Library Mall at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where they were introduced to modern library systems, digital databases, and innovative learning environments.

Speaking to DAILY GUIDE, the University Librarian, Ms. Vivian Amponsah, said the programme will include a Library Appreciation Day to honour both staff and users, as well as a practical workshop on Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in research and library services.

She added that an inter-university debate competition between CSU and Christ Apostolic University College will be held to promote intellectual engagement among students. Chess and Scrabble competitions have also been scheduled to encourage critical thinking, alongside the inauguration of the Chapman Library Chess Club.

The celebration will further feature a donation outreach initiative to support underprivileged communities.

Ms. Amponsah noted that the event underscores the evolving role of libraries in the AI-driven era, urging students to make full use of available resources to enhance their academic work. She added that the Library Month celebration is expected to boost the university’s visibility and foster a culture of smart learning and academic excellence.
