EUR Review: Filmed in Tuscany but made for anyone craving permission to be free, flawed, and utterly full of feeling, “You, Me and Tuscany” becomes the backdrop for a conversation about where home really is, why the scenic route is the best, and how centering joy, frolicking, and softness might just be the most romantic revolution of all. *Fresh off shaping the sun-soaked love story “You Me and Tuscany,” blockbuster producer Will Packer sat down with us to unpack why this film is his latest love letter to Black joy, Black romance, and Black self-reflection on the big screen.

Where Black Lovers Frolic & Flourish: Inside Will Packer’s ‘You Me & Tuscany’ | WATCH

In our candid conversation, Packer breaks down how and why he wanted to whisk audiences away—when the world feels heavy—into a whimsical Tuscan escape where a Black woman gets to wander, wonder, and fall in love without limits. From best-friend banter to villa vibes, he talks about creating a world where Black leads are soft, silly, and fully seen, reminding us that love is universal, but seeing Black love luxuriate, laugh, and live loudly in Italy is revolutionary. Q: These characters are joyfully frolicking through the rain and Tuscan terrain!

Why is it important to have Anna and Michale be soft and gentle? WP: It’s important because love is love, and we believe what we see. When we see things, they can become aspirational.

I wanted to make sure we had two incredible leads going on this journey together who happened to look like Halle Bailey (Anna) and Regé-Jean Page (Michale). Because we deserve that. I wanted this to be a movie that’s not about trauma, pain, or oppression, but that is about joy and some frolicking in between.

Because who doesn’t appreciate a good frolic?! Q: What’s one moment or scene during filming where you deliberately stepped back and let the actors act, the director direct or let the location take the lead? Click here to hear their answer.
