Tru-Juice can take lead in Zone A of JFF Championships

KINGSTON, Jamaica — True Juice Football Club (FC) could take over the lead in Zone A of the Jamaica Football Championships (JFC) if they can beat Baptist Alliance in their first round game at York Oval, set to start at 3:30pm.

Tru-Juice FC, the only unbeaten team left in the competition, are in second place in Zone A on 14 points from six games, two points behind leaders Sakka Club Browns Town who will be idle this weekend.

They will square off against a Baptist Alliance team which is coming off back-to-back losses and have conceded 20 goals so far.

Also Saturday, Falmouth United will be going after a fourth straight win when they take on St Bess United while Lime Hall Academy and Roaring River FC will both be hoping to rebound from their first losses last weekend.

Tru-Juice FC have been consistent through the first six games and should be able to get the better of the St Thomas club that have won just once all season and were beaten 6-0 by the Jamaica Defence Force last week.

Kurtel Lawes, Daniel Roberts and Lamard Neil have combined for eight of Tru-Juice FC’s 10 goals scored so far and they will be on the hunt for more goals today.

After a slow start, Falmouth United have reeled off three straight wins and will be away to St Bess United at Munro College. Falmouth United have not conceded in their three-game winning run during which they have scored 10 of their 14 goals.

Kayvon Donaldson and Phelan Christie have found some form in front of goal and they hope to get the better of the home team that has scored just two goals in their six games played so far.

Lime Hall Academy were surprised by Tru-Juice last weekend at home at Drax Hall and will look to bounce back against Meadforest today. Carlos Campbell has scored four goals so far for Lime Hall Academy with Sajay Anderson scoring three and they should keep the Meadforest defence busy all afternoon.

Roaring River were beaten at home by Humble Lion FC with only eight players on the field last week and they will be looking to make amends when they host Holland United.

Roaring River are in second place in Zone B, five points behind leaders Humble Lion FC who are not in action this weekend and could cut the lead to two points with a win.

Holland High have conceded 14 goals in their last three outings.

Duncans United who won their first game of the season last week, a shock 3-1 win away victory to STETHS Elite, will go after back-to-back wins Saturday when they host Petersfield FC at the Trelawny Multipurpose stadium.

Petersfield FC who were 6-2 winners over Holland PYC last week, are however hoping to flip the script and get a win for themselves.
