Reno seek revenge over Humble Lion in JFF Championships
KINGSTON, Jamaica—Reno FC will be looking to avenge their first-round loss to Humble Lion FC when they meet in a Zone B top-of-the-table clash in the Jamaica Football Championships on Saturday at Llandilo Sports Complex, set to start at 3:30 pm.
Humble Lion, who lead the zone with 20 points, three more than Reno FC, had won their first round game 5-0 at Effortville Community Centre and will be hoping to complete the double against the Westmoreland club.
Also in this round of games, Sakka Club Brown’s Town could retake the lead in Zone A with a second win over Baptist Alliance when they meet at York Complex, while Falmouth United are seeking to atone for their first-round loss to Petersfield FC, and Lime Hall goes after another win over Progressive FC.
Humble Lion, who are seeking to return to the Jamaica Premier League next season, have so far dominated the Zone and seem on their way to the semi-final.
The Clarendon club has scored 21 goals and, after being held by Duncans United to a 1-1 draw for the second time this season, will hope to get the better of Reno FC, who are unbeaten in their last three games.
Roaring River could take over second place in Zone B if they can beat St Bess United at the STETHS Sports Complex.
Roaring River are in third place on 16 points, one behind Reno FC and could benefit if their fellow Westmoreland team fails to win, as three points would take them behind Humble Lion.
Sakka Club Brown’s Town, who are in second place on 19 points, one less than leaders Tru-Juice, could retake the lead with a win over last-placed Baptist Alliance when they meet at York Sports Complex.
Sakka Club Brown’s Town had won their first round meeting 2-0 and based on form should take another three points today.
Their fellow St Ann club, Lime Hall Academy are also on the hunt for three points when they host Progress FC at Drax Hall after beating them 6-1 in the first round.
Falmouth United will be looking to rebound from last weekend’s loss to STETHS Elite, ending their four-game winning run when they host Petersfield FC.
The Westmoreland team had won their first round meeting but had lost their last three, allowing eight goals in the process.
Duncans United would be confident hosting Holland PYC after taking a point away to Humble Lion FC last week and avenging their 1-0 first-round loss.
Jamaica Defence Force and Meadforest FC will meet in a KSAFA derby at Constant Spring, and the army men will hope to avenge their 1-0 first-round loss.
The JDF are in fourth place in Zone A, five points better than Meadforest FC, semi-finalists last season, but struggling for consistency so far.
