File Latest News, Sports April 6, 2026 Carifta 2026: Shanoya Douglas breaks her own national 200m junior record For the second time in just over a week, Shanoya Douglas has stunned the track and field world after she ran a mouthwatering 22.11 seconds (1.9m/s) to break her own national junior 200m record at the Carifta Games in St George’s Grenada. With the win, the Jamaican starlet achieved a second consecutive Under-20 girls sprint double title at the regional meet after retaining her 100m title on Saturday’s opening day. A week earlier, she ran 22.36 seconds to win the Class 1 200m at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Athletics Championships to break Briana Williams’ 22.50 seconds national junior record set in 2018.

On Monday, she sliced another . 25 seconds off her previous best, breaking the Carifta record 22.77 seconds set in 2013 by Shaunae Miller of the Bahamas and said afterwards she hoped “the record will stand for a few years.” Douglas, the World Under-20 Athletics Championships bronze medalist, is now tied third all-time with American legend Allyson Felix and trails only Namibia’s Christine Mboma’s 21.78 seconds set in 2021 and AmericanJaMeesia Ford’s 22.08 seconds set in June 2024.

Natrece East was second with 23.39 seconds and Haiti’s Breanne Barnett was third with 23.49 seconds.
