Browns’ Myles Garrett expected to continue familiar offseason trend

Myles Garrett is a force of nature. The Cleveland Browns star has been arguably the best pass-rusher in the league since his arrival in 2016. Garrett is also coming off an exceptional season where he set the single-season sack record.

Fans are eager to see him play once again in 2026 and terrorize opposing quarterbacks.

However, the Browns will have to wait for a while before seeing Garrett in cleats again. Ian Rapoport reports that the Browns star will not be attending his team’s voluntary offseason program. This news comes amidst the ever-ongoing trade rumors surrounding the star pass-rusher.

As Rapoport points out, the Browns star hasn’t attended the team’s voluntary offseason program consistently for the last few years. It’s clearly not an indicator of Garrett’s unhappiness, as he signed a contract extension with the team just a few years ago.

And if it’s not broken, why change it? Garrett’s decision to maximize his offseason rest by skipping voluntary work has clearly led to great results. The Browns star is arguably the best pass-rusher of his era, racking up insane sack numbers and disrupting opposing offenses in both the run and pass game.

Just last season, Garrett recorded 23 sacks, breaking the single-season sack record previously set by Michael Strahan. Throughout the last few years, Garrett has been the subject of rampant trade speculation. Even after signing a contract extension, many are still predicting the Browns to eventually trade the star pass rusher.

When asked about this last week, GM Andrew Berry firmly denied these rumors.

“Browns GM Andrew Berry said at the owners meetings that the Browns don’t plan to trade Myles Garrett and called Garrett “a career Brown” but stopped short of matching his 2025 declaration that the Browns won’t be trading Garrett,” Zac Jackson reported this week from the owners’ metteing.
