However, before Police could respond, a nearby army detachment was reportedly notified. When armed operatives moved in on the scene, they allegedly opened fire, killing two individuals on the spot.

Moments later, Police reinforcement arrived and established that the deceased were not robbers as earlier suspected, but traders who had come to procure chickens ahead of Friday's Eid al-Fitr celebrations to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadhan.

Investigators further revealed that by the time of the shooting, the traders had already slaughtered approximately 450 birds in preparation for the festive market demand.

In a disturbing twist, a search conducted at the scene uncovered that sh6m had been taken from one of the victims, raising suspicion of possible misconduct among the responding security personnel.
