Judge addresses witness exposure concerns in Tesha Miller trial
The issue of witnesses being able to view accused men as they are being brought into court was addressed by Justice Dale Palmer on Thursday in the Supreme Court trial of Tesha Miller and 24 other alleged members of a faction of the Spanish Town-based Klansman gang.
Attorneys representing the accused men expressed that they were not comfortable with the arrangement that currently obtains.
Tamika Harris was among the attorneys who contended that the ability of witnesses to sit in the corridor and view accused men as they pass by creates a problem when it comes to identification.
Judge Palmer heard the points raised by the attorneys but explained to them that the current arrangement had been in place long before he was born. Nonetheless, he requested that checks be made to locate a suitable room to seat witnesses before they give evidence.
A female sergeant subsequently reported to Palmer that a room was, in fact, located.
