Digicel expands retail and connectivity footprint with new store in Ocho Rios

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Digicel has expanded its retail footprint along Jamaica’s north coast with the opening of a new store at Soni’s Plaza in Ocho Rios, aimed at improving accessibility for customers in St Ann and surrounding communities.

The new location supports the company’s ongoing fibre expansion across the region and builds on broader infrastructure efforts, including its Underground Duct Sharing Agreement with the Jamaica North-South Highway Company, to strengthen network resilience and accelerate the rollout of underground fibre.

Speaking at the opening, General Manager, Consumer – Mobile and Digicel+, Kristalle Chin said, “This new store represents our continued commitment to bringing Digicel closer to the people and communities we serve, while expanding access and creating new opportunities right here in St Ann.”

According to Chin, the Ocho Rios store sits within a broader programme of expansion and development, with several new store openings and upgrades planned throughout the financial year, aimed at bringing services closer to customers in rural and urban communities.

The opening also marked an early milestone ahead of Digicel’s 25th anniversary in April, signalling a continued push to strengthen its presence while evolving how it delivers its services.

“As we approach 25 years in Jamaica, our focus remains on strengthening our network while continuing to expand, ensuring that communities are better connected and more resilient, particularly as we recover and build following the impact of Hurricane Melissa,” said Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Digicel Jamaica, Stephen Murad.

He pointed out that beyond infrastructure, the investment carries a strong community impact, creating employment opportunities both within the store and through extended field teams that support customer engagement across surrounding areas. The move contributes to local economic activity while reinforcing Digicel’s commitment to empowering communities through connectivity.
