In Filipino beliefs, we were told to always remember to “look back,” especially during the peak of success. They say that looking back is a sign of gratefulness and humility. It’s important to remember the people, places, and events that brought us to where we are today. On Facebook, PBA player, Marc Pingris recently posted a photo of him visiting his former boss.
The photo was of him and a much older woman in what seems to be a public market. In his caption, he wrote:
Ang dati kong boss. Nagtrabaho ako kay Nanay Tessie sa palengke nung bata pa ako.”
Apparently, Marc used to work at a public market in Pangasinan when he was younger. And as many of us know now, he became a PBA player and is now part of the national team, Gilas Pilipinas. Marc was also very fortunate to marry kapuso star, Danica Sotto, daughter of Vic Sotto and Dina Bonnevie. Due to the humbleness of his post, it reached 1.9 thousand shares with 4.6 thousand likes & reactions.
Many netizens left comments on his post telling him how humble and down to earth he is. Some even concluded that the reason why he received so many blessings in life is that he is a kind man. Because of his post, many people started or continued to idolize him.
Visiting his former boss is not the only good deed people saw Marc doing. Just this December, Marc and Danica spent Christmas giving back to people. They packed bags of groceries with their children and gave it away to people.
One of the things that may have helped Marc along the way is his attitude and drive to work hard. Also, as stated above, remembering those people who took part in our growth is also equally important. Nothing compares to an overdue thank you.
