Fresh from a holiday vacation after her win in Miss Universe, Pinay beauty queen Catriona Gray kicked off her media appearances in the United States as part of her duties. Now based in New York City, she had her first interview with the NYC-based show “Good Morning America.”
Clad in a yellow long-sleeve dress, Catriona shared a casual talk with GMA’s host Ginger Zee. The host asked her to narrate about her mom’s premonition that she will be Miss Universe in a red dress. She cheerfully recounted:
“When I was 13 and she first told me, like I thought nothing of it you know. I was young, I didn’t really have that interest in pageants yet. But to see it come to fruition was just like, ‘Mom, are you hiding anything else about my future? I wanna know.’”
During the interview, the fourth Pinay Miss Universe titleholder also took time to discuss her advocacy on children education. Her passion towards children made the host describe her as “gorgeous inside and out.” Catriona shared:
“In the Philippines, I work with an organization called Young Focus, and what they do is they give access to quality education which, without NGOs like, those kids might never realize the dream of having an education and developing a love for learning.”
Meanwhile, the 25-year-old music theory graduate and singer hopes to be able to continue participating in benefit concerts for the impoverished children. Prior to winning Miss Universe, Catriona performed on several concerts aimed to raise fund for children in need. In the interview, she shared:
“Even as a Miss Universe, I would love to participate in a benefit concert or something like that to really merge my love for music and giving back. I think that would be amazing.”
As she seemed enthralled talking with the newly-crowned Miss Universe, the host praised Catriona for being a beautiful lady inside and out. She even described Catriona “perfect.” Ginger, with a hearty laugh, expressed:
“Well, obviously you’re perfect, and that’s why you won Miss Universe!”
After the interview, netizens were quick to show some love to the Filipina-Australian beauty. Aside from her eloquence and ability to handle the interview, one netizen also took time to commend Catriona’s good styling.
After her appearance in “Good Morning America,” Catriona—who just celebrated her birthday—graced another American television show “Live With Ryan & Kelly.”
Catriona won Miss Universe 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand on December 17. Her won gave the Philippines its fourth Miss Universe title. She previously joined Miss World in 2016 where she settled for a top 5 spot.
